The Full Scoop
I’ve been wanting to install a patio ever since I purchased my house. Because my dad actually worked with a concrete company before he passed, I knew I wanted concrete. At the time, though, I just didn’t have the money for it.
Recently, I started doing some research on Google to get an estimate of approximately what a concrete patio would cost. And I ended up booking appointments with Brazil Concrete and a few other contractors.
The rep from Brazil Concrete came out, measured (it’s 11 by 15 feet), and listened to exactly what I wanted. Then he contacted me that evening with his estimate. After I met with a few other people to find out what they were charging for the same work, I decided to go with him. His price was the lowest and he had a 5-star rating.
So he started work a couple weeks later. Due to the weather, it took 7 days, but normally, he said, it would be about 2-3 days.
The patio is stamped concrete. He had several colors to choose from, and I went with the one that I felt coordinated best with my house. Since he put on a sealant, I won’t have to do any maintenance to keep the concrete looking nice.
I was very happy, very pleased when I saw the finished patio. I think the company is very good – very professional, very friendly.
He still has to come back and reseal the patio in a couple of weeks. The day he first put the sealant down, the temperature went up to 90 degrees (which we weren’t expecting), so the sealant ended up crystallizing.
What advice would you give to other homeowners based on your experience?
Do your research to find out about materials and contractors. Meet with several people and get multiple estimates. And keep an eye on the weather report.
