Work Description: Retired

Comments: On 9/30/2024 Villa Home Services was sent to our home by our insurance company because our AC had stopped working. I informed the technician (Mr. Villa) that I had replaced the Run Capacitor as it goes out annually. I have learned over the years that our unit has an appetite for that part. I showed him the old part prior to him climbing on the roof. I then paid him his $85. initial visit fee.
Mr. Villa came down with impressive lack-of efficiency readings, measurements and determinations of our units' poor performance, indicating that the unit would best be replaced, but the Evaporator Fan Motor needed to be replaced (Inside air fan) to get the unit working again.

Mr. Villa tried to sell us a new unit, but I did not qualify for the $15,000. needed. (I am at my credit limit, plus I've co-signed for a siblings vehicle, while retired on a fixed income. I'm not late on any payments.) He said he found $3,000 that could be applied to a new unit, but that was all. I didn't realize that he had opened up a $3,000. line of credit with his company during this front porch search for fianancing. I did sign his laptop, but I thought that was to authorize the deep credit search. I didn't realize or know I signed to ok a new line of credit, and certainly not one so short of the funds needed for a new unit.
Not untill days later did I receive a email notice from Credit Karma about a new account in my name. It was a $3,000 limit with Villa ac repair thru Syncrony bank. No charges were against it, so I went through the steps to cancell it.

During the initial visit, Mr. Villa also agreed to order and replace the interior fan (Evaporator), which he diagnosed as faiIing at 8 amps operating load. I also asked for more information regarding his coil cleaning service on 10/2, via the phone call. Mr. Villa mentioned different prices for different cleaning packages: $600 range $650, and $750. I opted for the $650. version, he had a catchy name for the service "Rejuvenation" wich included cleaning all of the coils, including the fan blades. Photo copies of the text messages between Mr. Villa and I are attached. Please note the portion where he mentions discussing payments. He made no indication that his fee would be charged to the account that he opened for me without my knowledge, which I had already cancelled.

I didn't realize that Mr. Villa had charged the cleaning to that Synchrony account until I later received an invoice in the mail from Synchrony, $816. due on 10/30, . Mr. Villa never mentioned that Synchrony Bank would be handling the payments because he had opened up a line of credit in my name with his company.

On 10/8 a Villa AC service man came and performed the cleaning. Afterwards, when he was finished, he informed me that the Condenser fan (outside fan) was blowing backwards, the motor was turning in reverse, and must be replaced.
Mr. Villa informed me via phone that they would now need to replace the Condenser fan since it was turning reverse and suggested that he replace the Evaporator coils in addition to that fan because his technician took a photo of damage to the Evaporator coil due to dirt lodged against it. along with replacing the Evaporator (inside) fan motor, which was originally diagnosed as the reason why our AC is not working.
So far, Mr. Villa has determined that to get our unit back into operation, we need a new Evaporator fan motor, a new Condenser fan motor and New Evaporator coils.

I googled the issue of the Condensor fan rotating backward, it was not unheard-of. Google suggested that the wires may be crossed. I watched You Tube videos of un-crossing the wires at the Run Capacitor. I realized at that time, that I could have made a mistake when I installed the Run Capacitor. I went up at sun-rise the next day to check and see if the wires on our unit were properly installed, they were not. Before that, Instantly, from several feet away from the running unit it was obvious that something was wrong. Air was coming out the sides with great force, wich is not normal, and any A/C repairman would have noticed right away. Mr. Villa chose to ignore the obvious. Mr. Villa contends that he made all of his detailed checks and tests while the unit was operating in such operational dis-array.
My fear of ladders kept me from returning to the roof after I had installed the new Run Capacitor.

Mr. Villa could have repaired our system for the $85.00 we paid on his initial vistit, but he chose ignore the obvious and to try and sell us a new unit instead, and when we didn't qualify he attempted to sell us new parts that were not needed. I switched wires to how they should be and the Condenser fan ran the correct direction. This fixed the unit without replacing anything, and it only took ten minutes.

The fact that the wires were reversed is my fault. I have changed that coil perhaps six times in the last ten years, never have I made that mistake. I blame the heat, and because I was desperate to finish, it was very hot on the roof that afternoon. That's why we paid for a professional.

That morning, when I went on the roof to check and switch the wires, I removed the side panels to inspect the cleaning job, and it was obviously a poor job of cleaning. Photos attached.
I called Mr. Villa that morning of 10/10 and informed him that the wire switch fixed it, and sent him a link to the You Tube video. I also informed him of, what looked to be a poor job of cleaning the coils. I asked if such a poor job was done where it is easy to get to, how thorough of a job was done on the inside coils that was hard to get too. Mr. Villa assured me that the cleaning should have removed that dirt and if needed, he would reclean our system himself.
That was on October 10, and I have heard nothing from Villa AC repair since I got the bill for $816. from Synchrony, demanding a payment of $21. by 10/30.
I also have not heard of the Evaporator fan that was ordered and to be replaced since ours was so worn and reported as the reason for the units failure or the Evaporator coils that were in such need of replacing. I also have not heard further about replacing the Condensor fan that had just started turning the wrong direction, and certainly, nothing more about completing the coil cleaning job.

In summary.
Villa Home Services has caused us un-needed damages and strain. We paid $85. for the initial visit only to be lied to and led-on in the summer heat by Mr. Villa, Our unit could have been repaired by by him during that initial visit. He had such expertise as to inform us of how many amps the fan motors were turning and the efficiency of the compressor and it's short life expectancy, but he didn't have the skills to notice and repair the obvious, that the Condenser fan was rotating in reverse, evident because air is coming out whith great force, where it should be going into the unit? The tests Mr. Villa claimed to have made would have been done with a great challenge if not impossible due to the Evap. fan rotating in reverse.
We suffered needlessly in the summer heat for 13 days at the time when my Wife just came from the hospital from an operation.
In addition; the cleaning job was inferior and substandard. I have attached photos of the dirty coils said to have been cleaned.

I feel that Mr. Villa is a smooth talker who takes advantage of Senior citizens, especially during desperate times such as when emergencies happen to them, my case is proof.
I turn down applications for credit cards all of the time, I certainly do not need or want a new one for Villa Home Service.

I feel that I have paid enough to Villa Home Service LLC, both fianacially, emotionally, and physically.
