Work Description: Repair leaking pipe and install ice maker water line
Comments: This experience has taught me about "affluence fees". I was charged triple the typical price for the worked perform. My mistake for not getting other estimates but he came highly recommended. Being charged a few dollars more but to be charged triple the price (at the high-end), to me is unethical. This must be one of the worse experiences that I ever had with working with a contractor.The "affluence", I am far from having that or living that life. Appearances can be deceiving. If I questioned if I was overcharged based on presumed affluence, the company's response to my concerns definitely confirmed it.
I see that this company received many 5 stars (even though many are older ratings); but my experience has been one of the worse experiences that I ever had and definitely would not recommend based on overall experience. Oh, I didn't mentioned that they didn't even stop the leak at first, I had to point out to them that the pipe was still leaking and that didn't fix the right section. Good thing I looked before they left.
The leak was the main reason why I called the company and not to the installation.
Because I trusted the person that made the recommendation, I didn't do my due diligence in selecting this contractor. I didn't get other quotes and I basically threw my common sense out the window.
Lessons learned:
1. Always get at least 3 estimates if possible
2. Don't blindly trust someone just because they came recommended.
3. Make sure that you fully understand the work being performed and make sure that you have explained your concerns. Ask for an itemized estimate so that you can clearly see what you are paying for (labor and materials).
Of course there is always 2 sides to a story, however, I hope my experience will help someone else, especially women, when deciding on a contractor.

Comments: I was surprised that caulking the toilet base wasn't included since an overflow of the toilet would allow water to flow underneath the toilet to and causing damage to the ceiling below. I am not dissatisfied , but I will shop pricing more carefully in the future.Chesapeake Beach MD
