Work Description: Structural beam repair, deck cleaning/staining, estimating other projects
Comments: Dennis of R&B Pro Builders did two jobs for me: he added structural support to my ceiling beams and cleaned/stained my deck.The beam work was structurally sound but aesthetically horrible. He had custom support brackets made, which are solid and will definitely hold the beams in place. However, the brackets are white and my beams are chestnut and he left them smudged and dirty. When they finished that work at 9:30 at night he said the price would be 25% more because of the cost of the brackets. After they left, I discovered they had put some large gouges in my hardwood floors and damaged a wall footing.
They cleaned the deck with a pressure washer and damaged the wood in several places. There are a couple of big spots without stain and they stained my rail cables, which means I will have to replace them.
He said they would resolve all of the issues but when I told him I was getting estimates from other contracts for other work all talk of that ended. His estimate ultimately came in more than double of all other estimates and was overly vague. When I told him I was going with someone else he said he would not fix any of the damage they caused and even refused to tell me the name of the stain he used so I could fix their work.
Dennis does not give accurate estimates and does sloppy work.
