Work Description: New roof, repairing leak from their roof as well

Comments: I feel like I've given this company every opportunity to avoid a poor review, but they continue to be a let down.
I had my roof replaced in July of 2022, which felt priced appropriately, and the sales guy was friendly.
After showing up, the crew left a ton of nails and cigarettes on the ground. I called the office, Tamara told me they've had several problems with that crew (I didn't need to know that), and sent someone out to pick up nails and cigarettes. I still found some months later on, but I know it's impossible to get them all.
After a few months, I had a leak above my microwave, and they sent someone out to fix it, the guy was very friendly and even checked back in later on via text to check on the status, which I appreciated.
September 27th I called and left a voicemail that during Helene I noticed a leak in the same spot. I told them I understand how busy they are, and it wasn't a priority. After talking to Tamara on Friday, October 4th, I was told they would send someone out on October 7th between 7am and 9am, perfect! After waiting until 9:30am, I called the office, and again spoke to Tamara, who stated that their guys were heading to the owner's house to board it up for the upcoming Hurricane Milton (supposed to make landfall 3 days later) and seemed genuinely confused as to why I would expect the guys to still show up. I asked her, "Are you planning to let the rest of your customers know that you guys aren't doing any appointments today?" and she stated that when she got back to the office she would make calls to let customers know, seriously?? I then called again on October 11th, and spoke to the owner who said he was confused why no one came out to my house, since they were still working up until the hurricane touched down, we ended that I would call again after the storm to attempt to schedule, no problem. I then again spoke to Tamara on October 17th, who even called the owner to confirm they could have someone stop out the next day, the 18th, and even apologized for giving me such a large window, of 8am-12pm. On the 18th, I got a call at 2:14pm from the roofer, saying he would stop by in about 2 hours, and realized he wasn't even given a timeframe, just told to stop out anytime that day. He called me back about 2 hours later and stated it had been a crazy day, so I even told him to not worry about it, to enjoy his weekend, and he could come back Monday. He told me he would still come out, but texted me about an hour later and said he couldn't because he had to pick up his kid, totally fine. He told me that he would be out Monday, October 21st, between 8 and 8:30am. After waiting an extra hour, I texted him and he called and stated his schedule was shifted around and they gave him additional jobs to start. Obviously I wish he would communicate this, but I believe the office, whether Tamara or the owner, should have been the one to let me know this. I also called the office and left a voicemail Friday extremely annoyed and called today as well, with of course no call back. It is now 1:22pm, he called again and asked what time I want him to come out, when I've been waiting on him all day now, so I am now going to pay out of my own pocket to hire someone else to fix this, because this is absolutely unreal and I feel like I'm being pranked at this point, seriously, the ineptness is unbelievable. It feels like they hired a subcontractor and let him work whenever, and they're on completely separate schedules. It truly doesn't feel like a cohesive business. I would personally avoid them if you're someone who needs to take time off of work, as I have done time and time again and lost money over this. I would also avoid if you like things to be timely, as they've displayed both to me, and others, based on reviews, that they cannot show up within their own provided timeframe. If you are looking for a "cheaper" option and don't mind calling and hunting them down if there's ever a problem, then they'll be fine.

Work Description: Install metal roof

Comments: It has been 2 months and still waiting! We committed and put 2 thousand down on a metal roof in early mid July with Ryan. He told us it would be about 2 weeks to order and get materials and that we should have soon as they would fit us in with rains because we would not have our roof removed but the metal put over it ! ....NOTHING!!! Their customer service SUCKS!!! NEVER have they called us for a heads up ! I called them over 4 weeks ago. Finally got through to a women who stated "You will be NEXT week"....NOTHING ! I called back 2 weeks ago and talked to a women who explained we have had a lot of rain...we have 4 crews...and we are catching up. WE ARE having a meeting today to figure out what we are going to do ! I told her we want some updates!!! We WANT to be kept in the loop ! She stated " YES i will tell them and they will call you and tell you what is going on " .....Crickets !...Nothing!!! I sent a FB text to Ryan asking what is going on on Aug.28th .He responded on Sept..2 stating " We had rains and you are a priority " I get the rains!!! But what i DON'T get is there has to be some kind of wait line we are in??? considering we put down a deposit way back in July??? Where are we in the line of new roofs???? What does " NEXT" mean to you???? I know what it means to me!! Why can't you call us and let us know???? Are you hoping we just go away??? @@@@@@ UPDATE@@@@@@ It took 6 months to get our roof on!!!!! Lies after lies after lies !!!! After 3 months in they tried to pull a fast one and came one day and started to put on a roof we did NOT contracted for ! They realized they under bid us and was not going to admit it and they started a cheaper roof without our permission and one day when we came home we saw them installing it . We HALTED work and called Ryan . He told us we would have to come up with 3000.00 more to get what we wanted and contracted for. We refused. They dragged their feet for months!!! We had to agree with the metal we wanted but NO pilons and no peel and stick paper. They came and took off our shingles and slapped down cheap paper. Our roof sat for over a month with just paper !!! Causing several leaks inside our house in 10 different areas on our ceilings ! They finally had Mitchell's brother i believe (ONE PERSON ) put on our roof which took OVER a month for him to do!!! The metal sat on our lawn for a month killing the grass...uprooted plants... and 4 nails in our tires.. through Xmas...new years.... . We finally got our roof done !! After the work was done we showed Ryan the damage ceilings .He told us that a person would come out and repair it !!!! NEVER happened!!! Needless to say this was the worst experience ever with a Company we have dealt with! At some point we were no longer a customer but a pain in their ass and they proved it through their actions ! No we do NOT recommend this roofing co. unless you enjoy...stress...headaches...lies...sleepless nights !!!

Work Description: Roof Replacement

Comments: Ryan came out and gave a through explanation of the work that would be done and I received an estimate the following day. I had no less than 10 estimates before selecting Mitchell and Sons. They were in the middle regarding the price of my roof replacement but I liked the fact they use Owens Corning products and the warranty associated. They began work the day agreed upon and completed the job in two days. The work crew was professional, polite, and hardworking. They thoroughly cleaned up each day and did a great job. The Building Inspector even commented on how neat and clean the work was done during his final inspection. Ryan had great communication and follow up with me. I highly recommend Mitchell and Sons Roofing!

Comments: Being polite and paying your bill promptly is the wrong thing to do with this company.
I found this company on Networx an ‘Angie list’ type website for contractors.
All I wanted was a thorough and professional job which one of the workers called
a routine patch job.
By error or sloppiness, it was not.
As seen from outside everything looked good except for a dent that became
visible after the sun changed angles.
As seen from inside the roof, some rotted wood had not been replaced that
caused the depression.
They inspected the roof and agreed that a return visit was necessary.
Appointments were made and missed without any contact from
the company. Communication is also a problem with this company.
I made attempts to speak to the owner. He returned my
call after he received the BBB complaint I had filed.
He was polite and seemed concerned that I had problems with his
company’s work.
He said that I was scheduled to have the work finished the
next day. Again no one came and no one called.

Work Description: Remove and replace rotted wood and reshingle .

Comments: Short version,
I paid Mitchell and Sons to remove and replace the rotted wood in my roof.
There is still rotted wood in my roof that can be seen from the attic.
It must have been revealed and ignored as it is under the new patch of shingles.
Longer version,
I did not notice the soft spot left in the patched area of my roof because the sun
was directly overhead and the new shingles blended well with the existing ones.
After noon as the shadows changed, a dent in the roof was obvious in the new
shingle area.
I went into the attic and saw that some rotted wood had been left in the roof.
I called Jeremy Hall, the same man that bid the job. He went into the roof and
observed the rot, measured the remaining plywood and left over shingles and determined
there was plenty of leftover material to finish the job properly. He said next week
someone would be out. After a week and a half I called and he said he would return
my call with more information. I never heard from him again. I called to speak with
Mr. Mitchell twice and had to leave messages with the secretary to have him return my call.
I never heard from him.
When the drought is over and the summer storms come in a few months,
I hope I don’t have to deal with these people again if the patch is not water tight.

Work Description: Replacing tiles and structural beams from a leaking patch on the edge of the garage roof and fixing the attempted botched unprofessional job. Hoping this will be up to HOA's standards.

Comments: This company has been quick to respond, understanding of a complex situation regarding language barriers and overall been very professional in all correspondences.
