Comments: Owen came out and I felt an instant connection since we were both from Vermont. He came recommended from someone that he ended up screwing but it took a little while for the shoddy workmanship to materialize for them. They must have figured taking advantage of a single grandmother was okay. A crew came out and seemed to know what they were doing. Stupid me, I paid cash, so only have their guarantee, which is worth NOTHING. There were huge gaps in the concrete, so I paid extra to have them seal coat it being told, by Michael, that is would "look like glass". At the same time I recommended several neighbors get theirs sealcoated. NO ONE WAS HAPPY! My driveway looks like the main road before it is finished. My neighbor's driveway is 30 years old and looks better than mine. Neither Owen or Michael care about making things right. They do not respond to correspondence and appear to be running operations in several places with addresses, no real business. In some cases, they give out a Delaware address that appears to be Michael's mother's address. They are the worst kind of people and give others a bad name. Run, don't walk, away from these lmen who are only out for the money and do not care about having a good reputation at all. I did learn my lesson and fully investigated any other workmen and wish I had done my homework with them, but the man who recommended them IS REPUTABLE and I trusted his word only to find out that he got screwed having them do several places! Comments: NO! NEVER AGAIN! Stay far away and never hire.Owen and Michael McDonald will sweet talk you to do the work then use any excuse to avoid correcting the poor work their contractors end up doing.
Hired them in Nov 2022, with written contract, to completely repave and also install a PVC pipe under the end of the driveway (have a narrow gulley running down the street and I wanted rain water to run under the end of driveway). By the end of the job they had instead installed a black plastic drain pipe under the end of the driveway (not PVC) and Owen assured me it would hold up.
Less than 3 days later the asphalt began to peel away over the pipe, exposing it in multiple places. Owen claimed it was too late in the year to repair but I would be first on the list in Spring.
It is now Aug 2023 and despite multiple phone calls and texts to both Owen and Michael, and promises of repair, the driveway is even worse and they won’t commit to a repair date.

Comments: I would not recommend this company by any means. They were extremely responsive at the beginning when they wanted our business and then when we contacted them afterwards to fix what they did poorly on, they completely disappeared. They tried to blame things on us (but we can’t make weeds grow through asphalt). Terrible communication. There’s a reason they are a “good value.” They seemed nice and personable at the beginning but their work is TERRIBLE. We have weeds growing through the asphalt, sink spots where the vehicle parks (they didn’t make it thick enough), and the edges have already cracked. It also was not rolled tight enough. They promised to come back and seal it and that’s when they disappeared. We gave them ample opportunity and chances to reply to us and because they are acting like children this is what has promoted my review. I also plan on posting this review on every site I can find. Comments: I will never do business with Owen McDonald and Totally Asphalt again. Owen McDonald, the owner of Totally Asphalt, charged me many thousands of dollars and did a very poor job installing/repaving sections of my driveway this past autumn. He and his team left obvious, ugly seams in the asphalt, and within a month of completing the job multiple sections had already begun disintegrating. Owen also promised to repair a section of sidewalk for me concurrent with the asphalt project, but never did so. For 2.5 months following the work Owen did on my driveway, I texted and called him more times than I can count. Never once did Owen answer my calls, and never once did he call me back (this is after he had been extremely responsive during his sales process, in the lead-up to doing the work and getting paid). Owen did send me a few text replies during those 2.5 months, offering various excuses for why he was not getting back to me. After much prodding he finally set a date to look at my concerns in person, a date that was almost 5 months after his original work on my driveway. But that date has now come and gone with no communication or visit from Owen. He did not reply to my calls or texts in the weeks leading up to that date (I was attempting to reconfirm the date with him, as it had been a month+ since the date had been set), he did not contact me to tell me he needed to reschedule or to say he was not coming, and he has not responded to me since he blew off that date more than 3 weeks ago. Complete radio silence. I originally hired Owen McDonald and Totally Asphalt in large part due to the number of positive reviews I saw about him and his company elsewhere online. I do not know what has happened since those reviews that has seemingly turned Owen into a business owner who provides poor-quality work and who breaks promises and leaves his customers high and dry, but that is the current state of affairs based on my experience with him. I regret hiring Owen McDonald and Totally Asphalt. I will not make that mistake again.Downingtown PA
