Comments: Marco seems to be a very nice person. However he falls totally short on ability and quality control. Showed up an hour late, no phone call to say he was going to be late. As the day progressed to install 3 dead bolts, he expressed that he thought I already had dead bolts, and this was a replacement job. He had neither the tools nor expertise to install a dead bolt. What should have taken a few hours to do, took 8 hours. 2 of the 3 dead bolts would not work after installation. His comment was, that the locks were broken to begin with. I ordered the locks direct from Schlage. NO, the locks were fine, he just installed them wrong. I had to explain and show him what he did wrong and help him reinstall them correctly. He wanted to come back another day to finish the job, and kept telling me I needed to buy new locks that were good. The quality of his work was horrendous, the holes were sloppy cut and not in line with each other. He did not have the correct tools to cut the holes and set the lock mechanisms. He stripped one screw that holds the two sides of the lock together. I will have to find a replacement screw bolt and re tap the hole if possible. In all three holes in the doors, the doors were damaged and the holes were too big and not clean. He took a big gouge out of my metal door and tried to cover it up with putty. I will have to fill in the poorly cut holes and repaint the areas. The dead bolt assemblies are not square to the dead bolts so the dead bolts are not at right angles or perpendicular to the doors. The dead bolt door plates are poorly aligned and not flush with the doors. The screws are at angles not square into the holes. Having built many houses myself, I know the procedure, however Marco needed directions and his workmanship is a 2 on the scale of 10. In my original conversation with him about the job, he stated that he would charge me 200$ to install the dead bolts. When I gave him the two hundred dollars, he said it was 200$ per dead bolt. Then somehow it got to 800$. 8 hours to install, I guess he thought his time was worth at least 100$ an hour. He lobbied for more $. 400$, then he said "can you go to300$.". No 200$ is what we agreed on. I had other jobs for him, but I told him we were finished. I will have to spend my time redoing all three dead bolt installs. Resetting all the positions of the lock mechanisms, and correcting if possible, all the screws that are not straight in, but at angles so nothing is flush. I hired Marco to do a job I could do myself, and had before, but because I am 78 and busted up to the point, that I just would rather have someone else do the work, and use my limited daily energy on something else. I wish him the best, but it is very obvious that he does not possess the simplest of skills and pride in his work that people would expect. Respectfully,David James
