Work Description: Install hardwood flooring
Comments: Kevin Cooper is why I never pay contractors in advance anymore. Not only did he steal from me (I didn’t realize until afterwards that although I paid for 14 boxes of flooring material, he only delivered 12), he did not follow N0FMA (National oak flooring manufacturers association) standards (joints r supposed to 12” apart) & he never finished the job. In his sales pitch he told me that he would lay out the wood before he nailed it in to make sure it was according to N0FMA regulation - he didn’t. He installed damaged wood in the focal point of our family room, 3 feet in front of the center of the fireplace (4” long x 1/4” gouge). I came downstairs and noticed when he was 3/4 of the way done w installing the floor. I told him he needed to remove the damaged piece and he said that no one would notice it. At that time I realized & commented on the fact that he didn’t follow N0FMA standards. He got defensive and started yelling at me. I asked him to leave and come back after my husband came home. Feeling scared, I thought it best to retreat upstairs to my bedroom telling him I was calling my husband. He actually followed me up to my bedroom. At that point I told him to get out of my house or I would call 911. He never came back to finish the job (fine by me) and my husband finished installing the hardwood floor in our family room. But I’d already paid him full price and as I said, paid for 14 boxes of wood but only received 12. Btw, I’m the kind of person who cares enough to provides lunch & coffee, sweet tea or water to anyone working on my home (it’s just polite).
