Work Description: Building a deck
Comments: Hartness Home Improvements, a company to avoid by all means!We signed a contract with Hartness Home Improvements in September 2018 to build an addition to our house including a new deck. A deposit of 1/3 of the total project cost was made to Mr Jerry Hartness. The project was supposed to start immediately and finish before Thanksgiving, but It never took off. Mr Hartness took the check and just disappeared. We tried to contact him several times by email and phone and every time he gave us false promises and sometimes lies.
In December he finally came by our house and after a discussion on how to move with the project, he asked for more money to be able to continue. We were shocked that he could ask for more money as at that point the only thing he had done was to tear down the old deck and partially regrade the yard! This should not have cost not even 1/3 of the money he received from us. Obviously, we refused to give him more money and he ran way, and we never heard from him again. We contacted him several times to give us our money back, but he ignored our messages. I guess the only option left to us is the court!

Comments: Took large sum of money upfront. Then has avoided any communication. Does not answer calls. Or text. After weeks of cashing check and no communication I get a call after a bad review. It is obvious that this poor business etiquette never intended to do the job. I would highly advise using caution as I am not sure it is even a business.

Work Description: New Windows and Attic Insulation
Comments: i contracted this company to install new windows and attic insulation, I had many companies bid for the job, A few were cheaper but i could see that the product was cheap too! Most were more expensive and had the same quality as Hartness. I chose to go with Hartness because i felt like they really cared about my families needs and not just my money, from the very start of the job i felt like i made the right decision, they sent 2 crews to my home on a Tuesday morning and by Tuesday evening ( a little after dark) my entire job was complete, a total of 16 windows and 1800 square feet of attic insulation, I was amazed by the speed and by the quality of workmanship. It has been a few weeks now and MAN i can tell a huge difference in my homes temperature. i recommend this company in a very big way.Jerry Hartness uses quality materials and it shows. He transformed my home from Drab to Fab in 4 days! I couldn’t be happier. I recommend Hartness Home improvements to any and everyone that I know looking for an honest credible company to trust repairing or refacing their home.

Comments: I hired Hartness Home improvements to basically give my home a face lift. They did the vinyl siding and put in new windows and gutters. They did an awesome job in a reasonable amount of time (4 days). They were professional and courteous. The owner of the company Jerry kept me informed and in the loop through the process. He and the rest of the crew were very easy to work with and was respectful of my time and my family. They completed the job flawlessly and a very reasonable cost. I shopped around for months before deciding who to hire, and this company gave me the best price while having a great track record doing high quality work. Most of all they actually care about the jobs they do and their reputation. They clean up after themselves when done with the job and it’s like they were never there which is awesome.Jerry Hartness uses quality materials and it shows. Comments: I have a 97 year old home and the original widows had become inefficient and worn beyond repair. I wanted the energy efficiency of new windows without changing the character of my old home. Jerry was very helpful in helping me keep the character of the home by getting the right windows, grids and colors. The windows were custom made locally and only in a few weeks. The replacement of the 17 windows only took one day. The new windows are beautiful, without changing the character but enhancing it. The installers were neat, clean, friendly and professional. I am very pleased with the work Hartness did for me
