We did the design ourselves and opted to use Ikea cabinets with Senihandmade fronts. I had concerns that they would be working with materials that aren’t their own but they did a great job. Sign of a skilled cabinet installer. We had some custom challenges as most kitchen remodels do - a range hood that didn’t quite fit the opening in our ceiling, their team fabricated and stained a wooden transition piece that made it work.When the job was almost done, they did a wonderful job of dealing with our nitpick items on the closeout punch list.
They did a nice job and I wouldn’t hesitate to hire them again for our next project.

Comments: - [x] Our family was about to grow, surprisingly, and we needed to add an extra room to our home to accommodate for this blessing and in a hurry so we contacted 3 companies. one of them was Golden star construction and right from the start we felt comfortable with them. David came to our home for the initial consultation and we really felt he understood our situation and what needed to be done. We discussed the plans for about an hour and a half and the next day we had a full estimate in our email with everything we had discussed. Comments: We could not be more pleased with the outcome. Our kitchen is magnificent now, state of the art, we could not be happier. David was fantastic to work with from the very beginning. We needed to have some work done in our basement before we were able to tackle the kitchen. David referred to us to guys who helped us with that, he stayed in touch throughout that process as well. While designing our kitchen David provided tips and suggestions without being over bearing.While it was a long process, we would do it all over again with David. He brought in a plumber, electrician and professional crew to get the work done. He also referred us to Creative N Counters where we purchased our countertops. It was nice to have David handle all the work and we watched at the progress took place.

Comments: As most of the homeowners today, we interviewed multiple contractors for our kitchen remodeling. Finding constructor in California is not an easy task. Finding constructors who are willing to work within your budget is even more difficult. Long story short:- Some constructors did not respond at all
- Some of the responded constructors were not available for the next half of the year
- Some of the responded constructors were available, but provided initial quote that was far beyond our budget
- Some of the responded constructors were available, provided the quote within our budget and then never showed up/responded again.
We found Golden Star Construction when we almost lost our hope. They did not have much reviews and it looked suspicious, but being frustrating with our previous experience, we decided to give it a try.
Today, we can say, it was one the best decisions we made during this year, and that we were lucky when decided to contact the company.
David responded on the same day and scheduled an appointment. Then he showed up on the scheduled day and was promptly on time. We walked through our house and we showed him several projects that we wanted to be done. This included water heater replacement; kitchen cabinetry, plumbing, electrical work; installing and framing a new window.
He provided the initial estimate which was within the budget and contacted us later to confirm initial estimate.
We meet one more time to sign the contract and go over some his and our expectations.
We appreciated his honesty. He let us know right away that his crew is doing several projects at the same time, and some of them are very strict on deadlines. He emphasized that we should not expect his team to work in our house each day, but at the same time he guaranteed that all work will be finished within 45 days. He also explained that if we want to be within provided estimate we need to use his preferred vendors to order kitchen cabinets and stay within allowances provided in the contract for other materials.
David’s team started working in our house on the next day after we signed the contract. I never ever felt like our project was neglected due to some other projects going at the same time.
David checked the progress almost each day, especially at the very beginning of the project. On the days when he was not able to step in, his team sent him pictures of the work that was done during the day.
The crew that worked on our house was clean, respectful, considerate and professional. They worked hard, even on some weekends and through the holidays to meet the timeline, and they were always friendly and paid attention to the details.

they did a fantastic job trying to please us and accommodate our requests. It is great to work with professionals who takes pride in the quality of work they do, and we would hire them again, no question.
My biggest concern during the whole project was to stay on the budget. If you are doing any remodeling in the old house, you should expect some hidden, unexpected issues and problems resurfaced. Of course, in our house that was built in 1949 it happened, as well.
Golden Star Construction made it easy for us. All unexpected repairs were done promptly, and David told us that they will recalculate their spending at the end of the project to see if any extra payments need to be done. I was happy to hear at the final day that we were able to stay within original budget.
And, yes, they were able to finish it within 45 days as promised.
Summary: Golden Star Construction and its crew are professional, efficient, effective and very kind. A positive experience from start to finish. Call them, they are great!

Comments: David and his crew helped us remodel 2 bathrooms. He has a big crew and the crew members each perform specialized tasks (pluming, tiling, cabinets, countertops, painting, hot mop). They are friendly, easy to work with and we felt comfortable having them around our house as we go about our own lives. We were able to have continuous input throughout the whole process so that every task was done to our personal preference. The materials were all included in the package price and they are of high quality and are stylish. The carpentry was customized. We saved a great deal of time and trouble by not having to shop for the materials separately, knowing that whatever we choose from David’s catalog has been tested many times and proven to work and be of good quality.David answers text messages very quickly. We bought a home near Oakland that hadn't been cared for or updated since it was built in 1959. We found Etna Remodeling through our new neighbor who showed us the wonderful remodel David and team did for him. From our first meeting with David we were impressed with his experience, knowledge and creativity. David is very generous in sharing his design sensibility along with his solid knowledge of construction and cost management. Together, David and Lia came up with very creative yet affordable changes that made our four bedroom house feel much larger and more usable.
David manages every aspect of the job from suppliers to subcontractors. He has some great suppliers to recommend, but also worked flawlessly with us and other suppliers. David is a superb communicator - keeping us updated on every stage and giving us adequate notice on when things were needed. This helped us be on time with finish items like cabinet handles so we didn't have to pay rush shipping or make mad runs to Home Depot. David also makes great use of technology, with pictures for both progress updates and questions. This really helped us make better decisions and kept the job on time. Speaking of which, the job was completed on the aggressive schedule we needed, and on budget. A 'no-surprises' contractor is hard to find, and Etna is that contractor.

We're thrilled with our master bathroom remodel. The work is excellent and he was patient with us as we handled ordering our tile, fixtures and lighting. We had a small hiccup with one of our deliveries and he was understanding and accommodating as we were able to have it fixed for his schedule. We also added several items to our original plan and it wasn't an issue.
David and his crew were amazing. They worked long days and the project moved along extremely quickly. They were done in what felt like less time than we had expected. The work is beautiful and we've enjoyed showing it to others.
We've worked on smaller remodels with other contractors with several challenges -- frequent rescheduling of workers, delays and over-charges. These were not an issue with David . -- he & his crew were on-time, professional and on budget.
We hope to work with Cavalier again in the future for more remodeling projects.
