We are very sorry to hear that Mr. Lee had a less than excellent experience with us. This is our first "complaint" of any kind after being in business for almost 12 years. We, however, were very up front in letting Mr. Lee know in the beginning that we were extremely busy this Spring and would get him into our schedule as quickly as possible to start his front & backyard project. We originally had him scheduled to start on Monday 3/20/17 w/ an estimated completion time frame, at that time, of 7 days. We were then asked on 3/17/17 by Mr. Lee to not show up on 3/20/17 as scheduled. Only becasue they were taking an unexpected trip and wanted to be there while the work was being preformed. We fully understood the request & agreed to put Mr. Lee back into scheduling and would do our best to accommodate his newly requested starting date of 3/27/17. I made him aware of the fact I would be rearranging the schedule to move the next scheduled project into his place & couldn't guarantee we would be arriving the morning of 3/27/17. But would do our best to accommodate his request. Our policy is to not start a new project until the current project is 100% finished and signed off on by the homeowner. We spoke the morning of the 27th and I let him know that we were unable to start on this date due to the fact that the job we moved up was taking a lot longer to finish that anticipated. He was very understanding and appreciated the communication. Without asking for any payment down or up front, I offered to start the demo & grading work to get it completed. So this way we could get right in & do the landscape installation once our crew finished up the job they were currently on. He agreed to allow us to do the demo & grading on 3/27, knowing that we were still at least 7 to 10 days out from starting the installation. We stayed in touch regularly with Mr. Lee, by phone, text & email, letting him know what our new anticipated start date was going to be. It was communicated that on 4/6/17 that the pavers, base & other materials needed to start would be delivered and placed in the street out front for the new start date of Monday morning 4/7/17. It was agreed that was acceptable and again we were thanked for the constant communication. On Monday morning @ 7:53am, I had let Mr. Lee know that the crew was finishing some last minute final clean up on the project we just wrapped up and they would be at his house by early that afternoon. He was fine with that he told me. But asked if that it went too far into the early afternoon to please just arrive for a full days work the following morning, Tuesday. I told him I very much appreciated his understanding & patience. Then at 2:39pm, I received a text simply asking me to "Remove all materials from in front of my house ASAP." Being caught a little off guard, I phoned Mr. Lee and asked if everything was still OK for arriving Tuesday morning to start the project? He bluntly put it that he was "done waiting for us to arrive, wanted everything removed ASAP and that he & his wife were going to file complaints with anyone & everyone they could find to let them know how dissatisfied he was with our company." He was very clear letting me know he would find someone else to do the work agreed upon. I asked him again to please allow us to arrive Tuesday morning as discussed, assuring him we would be there first AM & stay on the job daily until completed. Offering him to discount the overall cost of the project for his patience. He asked me again to remove everything from in front of his house. I at that time politely agreed to do just that for him. I told him we would have everything removed by end of business day Thursday 4/10/17. He agreed that would be fine. We had everything removed & cleaned up for him by Wednesday 4/9. My only request was for Mr. Lee to please pay for the demo & grading work that had been completed. He said he would do so once we had the materials removed and street cleaned up. We never ask for any money down or up front from any homeowner. Situations such as this, where prior projects sometimes run longer than expected, are one of the reasons why. It's standard that we offer to get all materials delivered & preform some, or all, of the work before asking for any payment. Mr. Lee politely offered to pay$1,090 for the demo & hauling work that was completed, once materials were removed. He then recanted that offer and said he was only willing to pay $1,050 after we removed the materials. It has been over a week and we are still waiting for his check to arrive and have not made any further contact with Mr. Lee since last week when asking him to verify everything was removed & cleaned to his satisfaction. He agreed that it was all gone and the clean up was satisfactory. We apologized to him numerous times for our unavoidable delays and wished him all the best in getting his project completed for his family to enjoy this Summer. My personal opinion is that this complaint is somewhat unwarranted due to the fact that we stayed in constant communication with Mr. Lee and we both agreed on a new start date of 4/7-4/8. But were ultimately asked to not show up. I truly wish there had been a completely different outcome here. I wish that we could've been allowed to complet the project we designed for the Lee's & they could've been added to the 12 year long list of thousands of homeowners who are highly satisfied with our design, installation process, finished product, pricing, communication & level of professionalism. I do appreciate the opportunity they did give us to initially earn their business & provide all of this for them. Sincerely, First Class Landscaping.
