Work Description: Cut down two trees-one dead and huge, one broken and split during wind
Comments: They DID IT AGAIN!! AWESOME! We had Eli & his crew do work for us before; they really are GREAT at what they do, like their ELITE TREE SERVICE "ABOUT US" states on their web site!We rarely give high ratings, but we gladly give the HIGHEST rating and recommendation for Eli and ELITE TREE SERVICE!! We will ALWAYS call ELITE when we need tree service, which we will as we have a woods & a lot of trees!
Previously, we had a big front yard project to remove a Bradford pear (what a dirty tree!) and some others for relocating our electrical service. This time, it was the backyard; the wind twisted a Locust tree, it split way up high & it was leaning over our neighbor's yard & fence. We were really concerned 1) that it would break and fall at any time, but 2) had NO IDEA how anyone would be able to get to it and get it away from the neighbor's fence and their trees...we couldn't imagine how this could be addressed. At the same time, since the leaves were off the trees, there was a 28" diameter ~90' tall TULIP TREE with dead long limbs up high leaning toward the house. This was creating the risk that they would hit our home if they broke off & fell in the winds we've been getting, plus the tree was also leaning toward the house with the majority of limbs and weight on that side.
Eli came out & we discussed the approach to get these 2 trees out without damage to the neighbor's or our property. With the plan in place, his crew showed up with necessary machinery, equipment, their safety gear & rigging. Up the trees they went & implemented strategic rigging that allowed them to cut the split twisted Locust hardwood tree section high up. Slowly, they controlled the movement of it twisting toward the ground while lowering it (& directing it by pulling it) away from the neighbor's fence and property. While lowering it, they sawed a section off & laid it safely on our property; repeated that a couple times, & all that was left was a really tall stump that they simply laid down without impacting the surroundings!
Then, the TULIP Tree; it was necessary to sacrifice a couple of young trees to enable a clean fall for this granddaddy of a Tulip Tree. With those out of the way, a fall path identified & cleared, they selected specific trees to rig to and positioned themselves safely at the end of those ropes to ensure total control of where that tree was going to land. Eli powered up the STIHL & in ONE MINUTE (and 23 seconds), he made the two forward cuts that determined the fall direction and then, the backside cut that set off the fall PERFECTLY in the planned region of the woods without any damage to the rest of the trees! Looking at the ~24" high stump left in the ground, a squirrel popped out of it afterwards-unharmed with a nut!!!! It was totally hollow-only about 7" of actual wood was present on the perimeter of that tree! We had no idea & are so pleased it is down; maybe not that squirrel 'cause he had no warning to move his stash!
They organized, stacked and cleaned up debris - couldn't ask for more - great people! Remember, you don't ever WANT to have to make an insurance claim because a tree fell on your house - this you can plan for and avoid!! Be wise, use the ELITE Tree Service guys!!
