Work Description: Failed Remodel
Comments: We would NOT recommend working with this contractor/group. Sharing our feedback on every site we can find to hopefully spread the word. We are baffled by the 5 stars reviews - are they sure it was Kevin?We ultimately fired Kevin & Capital Development after failing to deliver the timely and professional product that they said sold us on - citing delay after delay and excuse after excuse. Telling us the city inspectors had it out for him and that permit delays were out of his control. Meanwhile our architect and the city inspector pulled us aside separately to let us know that Kevin was not fulfilling his end of the communication which was the root of the initial delays. We can only assume that it continued to be his core problem throughout our work together as delays were the name of the game. Still we tried to move past that and work with him to fix his shortcomings. Trying to be understanding that things get delayed for all kinds of reasons - but our kindness was in vain because the habitual lying, the never owning up to mistakes, the poor craftsmanship, and the countless no show days only worsened. It was a constant stream of failed communications on his part with multiple materials/work having to be reordered or redone due to carelessness and inability to listen to the client requests. Proving to us how inept they really are as a remodeling company.
Instead of enjoying our new home like we planned, we watched Kevin & Capital Development fill their time by filming promotional material or social media in our unfinished home as well as secretly filming us during a meeting - all without any discussion of filming permissions or video rights/consent given from us, the homeowners and clients. Footage of our home and ourselves was then put on their Tik Tok account, showcasing them dancing and lip syncing to songs and soundbytes with our construction material as their props. Giving a false illusion that we were happy clients and that the project was going smoothly. It gets worse - he says our first & last name in the videos and shows the large open hole that gives direct access to the inside of our house and children's room. Showing zero regard for our safety, privacy, and the professionalism we should expect for the money we paid / the size of project we signed on for. Yes, you read that correctly - while we were strung along for months (we are currently 1 year out since the "16 weeks quoted" project started), our contractors were Tik Tok-ing and letting our project fail. In the house we love and worked so hard for. We spent a massive chunk of our savings to remodel this home so our son could have his own bedroom. They treated our money, time, and home callously. Giving more energy to their own ego and fake social media facade. No one should have to experience the level of unprofessionalism and disregard that they delivered. Sure Kevin is young (22 or 23) but definitely old enough to know better than to treat people this way.
We want to factually represent our experience with Kevin & Capitol Development LLC , I added image proof on the Google / Yelp reviews. But to recap - please beware of this GC! We found out about multiple firings and unsatisfied customers from other projects that I have personally talked to. I'm sure there are many others out there in the same boat with him. Let our $120k+ mistake of trusting them be your red flag warning! Capital Development is completely untrustworthy.
