Work Description: Resurfacing step and pouring new sidewalk
Comments: I contected Best Choice Foundation and Masonery for an estimate on replacing my front sidewalk and steps. Pat came out and looked over what I needed. He advised not tearing out the steps and capping them. Then removing the sidewlk and replacing it. From the reviews and his word that the results would be better then new. I agreed to have them do the work. They started the same day tearing out the sidewalk. They placed the broken up cement on my driveway. I asked when they would remove it and Pat said that was my responsibility. I said if you tear it out you have to remove it which they did. Payment was required up front, half now and the rest when the job was complete. Pat would only take cash, no checks or credit card. One person came out and formed the steps and used thin wood strips to outline the sidewalk. He finished the forming and said the cement was on the way. From 2PM until 7PM 3 people stood around waiting for the cement. The truck finally arrived around 7PM. One person did all the work by himself. The truck driver wheeled the cement and one guy had to spread it, level it and do the finish work whlle Pat and another person watched. I asked them if they were going to help and was advised they ould be in the way. The work was finally done after 9pm In the dark. They had to use there truck for lighting to do the finish work. I wasn't able to view the finish work until the next morning. The steps already had hairline cracks and where the sidewalk connects to the step already had a crack. The second step now has a crack also. Pat said Kevin is the owner. I have been trying to get Kevin out to see the work done and he has yet to respond. I call the phone number and the person that answers just babbles and said Kevin is out of town. Kevin finally emailed me stating he would be back in town on November 7th and would be out to check out the work done. It is now the 19th and have not heard from him. The reviews that I have since read says Pat is the owner and I am not sure whether Kevin exsists. I am taking for granted I will not hear from this company again. I am very disappointed with the work and the company. I have a warranty on the work which I guess is null and void. I have had it looked at by ther cement companies who that the work was not acceptable. To have it all redone would cost me another $4000. I am kind of at a loss at this point. I have waited since early September before writing this review to see what Kevin would do about the job. I have sent two emails within the last week and haven't received a response. Work Description: remove asbestos popcorn from basement ceilings and make other drywall repairs
Comments: PATRICK JONES, apparently the owner and maybe the sole employee of BEST CHOICE, is a TOTALLY DISHONEST AND UNTRUSTWORTHY CONTRACTOR. I hired them to remove asbestos popcorn from ceilings in basement rooms and do some other drywall work. He wrote up a proposal on his phone and showed it to me on his cellphone. He only showed the scope of the work and the price so I signed it on his phone. The price was a lot higher than another contractor but the same as a second one. I decided to hire him because he said we wouldn’t have to remove the heavy furniture and they would cover it with plastic. He also promised to follow the federal requirements for removal of asbestos. He hired Barios Drywall to do the work and insisted that I pay 75% IN CASH before starting the work. He then showed me the “contract” I had signed, without the him showing me the entire contract. The contract also provided for payment of sales tax. When I questioned him on this, as I had never had to pay sales tax on services before, he said his attorney was insisting on that. I told him that his work would have to wait until an insulation company was able to spray foam under a bay window. He then contacted me and said they were ready to do the work and he would personally come back and finish the dry wall repairs himself. Barios did a good job except they did not completely seal off the basement from the rest of the house so asbestos dust was able to get into the air upstairs. When I called Patrick about that he said they had to do it that way, which wasn’t true, except maybe for a short time. He insisted on full payment then but promised in writing to appear on October 20, but did not show or call. When I called, he said, as you can hear from the kids playing in the background, today is a family day, and then he said also his uncle had just died unexpectedly but he would come out the next Sunday at the same time. Same results and I don’t remember what his excuse was that time or why he didn’t call. He agreed to come out on November 7 but with the same results. He said he couldn’t drive in the 6” of snow Denver had received the previous night. I had driven around Denver earlier that day without any problem because it was warm and the snow had melted on the travel portions of the streets. He then promised he would be out on November 14 and confirmed that promise in writing, but once again he didn’t show or call. DON’T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID AND TRUST PATRICK JONES OR BEST CHOICE FOUNDATION AND MASONRY.Littleton CO

Comments: First of all, this is not a real company. We tried to find them registered ANYWHERE and couldn’t. Secondly, Patrick ended up charging more than every other company we talked to, even though he gave us a low quote to begin with to lure us in. And finally, Patrick overfilled the dumpster, which was then too heavy for the dumpster company to haul off, and then refused to help fix the situation. He didn’t even have a CC on file with the dumpster company, so it became our responsibility, otherwise we would have our old driveway dumped back on our property.
