Work Description: Roof work and residential remodeling for a larger project.
Comments: Run!! My company hired A&S to complete a roofing and construction job in Arvada and we wish we never met them. It seems like A&S Construction is basically stealing $20,000 from a construction job because they left the job without completing it, and they refuse to refund any money. A&S is making my company get attorneys involved just to get a response. The money that should be refunded is most of the profit from a fix and flip project. The delays on this project almost put another company out of business and caused harm to a family. Awful! A&S stands for Angela and Steve, I believe. They take Saturdays for religious beliefs. What religion teaches people to steal, lie, cheat and take from families?Arvada CO
Work Description: We contracted A&S for a large remodel project in Arvada. The job was supposed to be completed March 20, 2017, and they didn't even come close. We paid them half up front with a draw at the end of week one, and we've overpaid them for what they have done through March 29, 2017. We asked them if we should go our separate ways when they started to fall drastically behind in week two, but they started to show a pulse, so we tried to work with them a bit longer. By most standards, they completed about 10% of the work and they've gotten paid about 60% of the money. They've vanished as of 3/22/2017, and they are not responding at all now. A&S dropped off windows 2/28/2017 and it took them until 3/20 to get most of them installed. According to the owner of A&S, the windows were delayed because they could only install on 3/6 and it was windy that day (in a text message). A&S installed all but one window; one grew legs and walked off. A&S is saying the missing window was delivered and it is our responsibility, even though an inventory was not provided at delivery and it took a month to get them in. The owner of A&S says the general delays were caused by owner's injuries sustained when he fell off of the stairs at our project (his guy wasn't telling him where to step and they removed the hand rail), then he was injured in a car accident, the whole company was sick one week because they all share the same drinking container (owner sent this explanation for delays through a text message), it was windy a couple days....more excuses not to get the work done than there are to get it done, it seems. We are embarrassed for them and we are embarrassed to present this way in front of our associates, lenders, sub contractors, neighbors around the project and wish we never would have hired them. What a mess. They present like a good company, they are insured and licensed, but they did not come through for us at all. The owner, Steve Kasza, responded to say that his attorney is a "pit bull" when we requested money back for what was not completed. We'll post again after we have a resolution. There is a Yelp review that shares a similar pattern of smoke in mirrors, but we decided that one bad review shouldn't trump the remaining good reviews. Maybe the owner took on a job that was too large for his company, but the character of the organization is in the results and in the way they've left this project. The old windows were left at the house for us to deal with, the remaining window will take two weeks to get here, the kitchen cabinets are now two weeks out, etc. The owner of A&S Construction, Steve Kasza, said that he would finish the job if we gave him more money with two more weeks penalty free. Right.
