Work Description: Central A/C - Install/Replace

My Trane's furnace stopped working during January and I was anxious to get it fixed as soon as possible. I called my usual HVAC maintenance company and their technician told me the $800 circuit board that controls the voltage to the gas valve was defective. He advised me that since my unit was about 20-years old, the entire system should be replaced for a cost approaching $11,000. I called Air Source Mechanical for a comparison. Tommy Ivey of Air Source Mechanical spent about 20 minutes analyzing the problem. He checked the circuit board price which was actually $175. He also measured the circuit board output voltage which was working properly. Tommy then found a defective solenoid on the gas valve, which he replaced. This restored our heat for a fraction of the cost of a new system.
